Lonesome Brothers
Review by Linda Laban
Friday, August 20, 2004

The fifth release from this Western Massachusetts alternative country trio finds the Lonesome Brothers laying down richly wrought true stories, tall tales, funny ditties and sad sagas. With keen observations and genuine affection, they sweetly document small-town life in twangy rockabilly grooves and dusty country- and folk-styled rock.
Brothers' bassist Ray Mason and guitarist Jim Armenti swap vocals, an assortment of guests add keyboards, dobro, banjo, slide guitar and accordion, and former Scud Mountain Boys drummer Tom Shea pertly kicks or gently swishes it all along. (Next two Tuesdays at the Lizard Lounge, Cambridge.)
